CleanSweepNY Spring 2019 - NYSDEC Region 9

Spring 2019 CleanSweepNY collection event that will target the following counties within NYSDEC's Region 9: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Niagara and Wyoming.

The deadline for registration is Friday, April 12th so please request and send in the completed registration form quickly.

Preregistration is necessary and registration packets will be mailed upon request to those wishing to participate. Registration forms can be requested by calling toll free at 877-793-3769 or by email at info@cleansweepny.org

The collection dates and locations are as follows:
Tuesday April 30th Gowanda, NY
Wednesday May 1st Warsaw, NY
Thursday May 2nd Lockport, NY

Note: More specific information will be given to those entities that register, and appointment times and locations are scheduled.  Each participant is responsible for transporting their materials to the collection site.

This collection is for farmers and owners of former farms, all categories of NYS certified pesticide applicators, cemeteries, golf courses, marinas, schools, landscapers and lawncare providers, nurseries, greenhouses, and other entities possessing unwanted or unusable pesticides and other waste chemicals.

Poughkeepsie, NY

At this meeting, we will discuss previous research on using mulch for weed management, including the benefits of stacking mulch treatments with an organic herbicide program. We will then discuss the treatments in our field trial, discuss results to date, and get initial reactions from the grower, while viewing the field trial.  We will then discuss the other study objective, using a mechanical weeding system to replace contact herbicide applications, currently underway in the Champlain Valley.
