Northeast Winter Fruit Seminar Series NEWA 3.0 Project Upgrades for 2021 Webinar
Event Details
NEWA is an online platform that provides decision support information for insect pests, plant diseases, and crop management in fruit, vegetable, and field crop commodities. These resources are accessible at http://newa.cornell.edu free of charge to all producers in any of NEWA's 15 member states.
In this online meeting, Dan Olmstead will discuss upgrades coming to NEWA. Some of which include user accounts to save model settings, a customizable list of favorite stations, and an app-like user experience on smart devices with smaller screens. In addition, video Quickstart Guides will be available for every NEWA model.

Dan Olmstead is an Extension Associate with the New York State IPM Program at Cornell AgriTech. He is the program coordinator for NEWA, the Network for Environment and Weather Applications.

11:50 am - Check-in with Cornell Cooperative Extension for attendees requiring NYSDEC pesticide credits. Not required for holders of a license from a New England State.
12:00 pm - Attendee check-in.
12:05 pm - Presentation(s) begins (1 hour)
Presentation(s) will be interrupted at approximate half-point to provide poll question(s) to attendees. These questions must be answered to receive pesticide credits.
12:55 pm - Question & Answer with presenter and meeting host(s).
1:20 pm - Final poll questions and evaluation
1:30 pm - Adjourn
To receive NYSDEC credits, New York growers must:
- Register at the above link by no later than the Monday prior to the meeting date. Participants seeking credits must enter their applicator ID # at registration. Each license holder must register separately and participate on their own device to earn credits.
- Email, text, fax, or mail a photocopy of their applicator ID to Mike Basedow at mrb254@cornell.edu or 518 410 6823 no later than the Monday prior to the meeting date.
- Log on to the meeting at 11:50 for a virtual roll call.
- Attend the entire meeting.
- Respond to all poll questions that will occasionally be asked.
