Summer is short in the Champlain Valley, so visit us while the weather is good! This July ENYCHP will be hosting an orchard field afternoon highlighting Mike's research trials at Chazy Orchards. We will take a close look at this season's NNYADP-funded Accede thinning trials in Honeycrisp, Gala, and NY-1. We will also see the initial results of our ARDP-funded mechanical weeding experiments, and discuss the final year of our Canada thistle control trial. We will also walk through the 2021 rootstock trial, which contains Honeycrisp, Gala, and NY-1 on many of the new Geneva rootstocks. In addition to these trials, Monique Rivera will discuss her recent findings in woolly apple aphid management, Yosef Al Shoffe will discuss his project looking at how different rootstocks impact soft scald and other storage disorders in Honeycrisp, and Jason Londo will discuss his rootstock cold hardiness work and how it relates to apple decline.
