2017 CCE LOF Spanish Summer Fruit Tour
July 22, 2017After having increased their awareness of safety at the farm, participants will learn the objectives and how applied tree fruit research is practiced at the Station. The tour will visit several research plots (apple, pears, and cherries) and will be guided in the Spanish language by Peter Herzeelle, Guilherme Fontanella Sander (a Ph.D. candidate who is fluent in Spanish from Brazil), and Mario. The tour will come to an end by visiting the Raw Product Building where post-harvest evaluations are conducted during the winter months. Of course, no visit would be complete without socializing with ice cream and having a good conversation about tools for improving workplace communication with Mary Jo Dudley (Director of Cornell Farm Worker Program) at the nice pavilion behind Jordan Hall. The tour will finish at the pavilion at 5pm.
Please make sure Hispanic employees arrive at the FRU facilities (meeting address mentioned above) strictly 15 minutes before the scheduled tour.
The tour is FREE, but pre-registration is required for ice cream counts by Wednesday July 19. Please register with Kim Hazel, 585-798-4265, extension 26 or krh5@cornell.edu. For additional information about the tour in Geneva, contact Mario (315-719-1318), mrm67@cornell.edu.
