Soil Health Listening Session
October 26, 2017Agriculture producers and growers are invited to a Listening Session on Soil Health on Thursday, October 26 from 6:00-8:30pm at the Whallonsburg Grange. Professor David Wolfe and Extension Associate Aaron Ristow from Cornell University will be on hand to discuss the principles of soil health and outline new funding to support the NY State Soil Health Initiative. Participants will be asked about their current soil health practices along with challenges and opportunities for farmers in the region to determine next steps for this project.
The program is free and is targeted to commercial growers and farmers. Dinner is included at no cost for those who pre-register by October 23rd. Registered participants will also receive a copy of the Cornell Soil Health Assessment Training Manual. The program is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension, the Eastern NY Commercial Horticulture Program and the New York State Dept. of Ag and Markets.
