Join Cornell Cooperative Extension for a day-long intensive focused on leafy greens production! This intensive will focus on both summer and winter growing and will feature grower insights and research. Topics include: soil steaming, spinach variety trials, pest management, heat tolerant varieties and a moderated grower to grower conversation.
Cost: $30 pre-registration up until Feb 3rd at 5pm, $50 at the door. Lunch is included

9:30am-10:00am - Welcome/registrations
10 AM - 11 AM - Soil steaming with presentations from Extension experts and growers who have used it and a grower panel discussion
11 AM - 12 PM - IPM rotation stations with discussion groups on varieties and disease resistance, insect pests, fertility and weeds management
12:00-12:30: - Lunch, industry announcements
12:30-12:45: - Active learning stations- growers share favorite varieties of different crops and why they like them
12:45- 1:30 - Climate considerations and changes to growing practices and grower panel on planning with changing weather
1:45- 2:45 - Climate related rotation stations with discussion groups on summer growing, shoulder season growing and winter growing
2:45- 3:15 - Show and tell on other topics
3:15 - 3:30 - Wrap up and final discussions

Three leadership practices are essential for supervisors: setting clear expectations, employee training and development, and providing performance feedback.
In Employee Development and Training you will learn best practices to plan and conduct training that engages employees, supports retention, and helps ensure great quality work. You will also learn how to create a culture of continuous learning and performance improvement through employee development, coaching, and career planning. This is a 6-week online course, taught in English.
