In 2012, growers and consultants used the advanced Late Blight Decision Support System (DSS) forecast on 12 tomato and/or potato farms for part or all of the season. The email/text spray alerts and broad base of fungicide info made the LB DSS easier to use and more helpful than ever before. It provided scientific information to help them make better fungicide spray decisions, and in some cases safely stretch their spray schedule during the hot, dry weather.

DEC Special Permit Training (Wayne County - English session)

At Special Permit trainings, we review with non-certified applicators Worker Protection Safety (WPS) handler training and for each federally restricted-use pesticide the potential hazards to non-target species and the environment, and how to prevent the risk of exposure. Trainees also receive a packet with summaries of this information. A DEC Special Permit is valid for one year and needs to be renewed every year unless the pesticide applicator becomes certified.
